A new and exceptionally versatile anchor moulded in stainless steel AISI 316L.
Permanent fixed anchor designed for placement with a hammer drill,
Ideal for BELAYS and for abseil points or top-rope anchors.
Suitable for climbing, mountaineering and canyoning use.
This product is equipped with an innovative and highly resistant bolt designed for placement with a hammer drill.
The diameter of the bolt is 6mm which allows force to be distributed over the entire length of the shank to the furthest possible depth (70mm).
It is very resistant to tensile force (up to 40°) and is therefore suitable for moderately soft rock (although not sandstone, conglomerate or similar!)
Placement Advice:
-"EUROPE” anchors must be placed on completely solid surfaces with a crystalline structure.
-As well as visual evaluations, a good method is to strike the rock vigorously with a hammer.
-The sound produced should be dry and dull rather than hollow.
-Use an appropriate drill to create the hole in the rock, taking care to make it exactly perpendicular to the placement surface.
-The depth must be at least 5mm more than the length of the shank (so at least 75mm).
-A deeper hole has no ill-effect on the anchor (although naturally it wastes the drill's battery).
-Make sure that the bit is in good condition and that its diameter is exactly equal to the diameter of the anchor.
-Use a small pump or a rubber tube to blow down the hole and clean it.
-Place the first “Europe” anchor in the hole and position it in the load-bearing direction.
-Strike the pin head squarely with the hammer until it can move no further into the shank.
-Drill a second hole about 25/30cm below and 10cm left or right of the first hole (depending on the chosen surface). Repeat step 3.
-Place the second “Europe” anchor in the hole, positioning it facing but slightly diagonal to the load-bearing direction of the first anchor.
-This anchor forms the “passive” back-up which will bear the load should the first anchor fail…(?!). Fixed diagonally, the rope will not be subject to any friction.
-Strike the pin head squarely with the hammer until it can move no further into the shank.
-This confirms that the belay has been correctly placed.
-To abseil, the rope MUST pass through both of the “Europe” anchors. This guarantees maximum safety. Place the rope on the gate of the lowest anchor and pull down to pull it into place.
-Repeat with the second anchor above.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
-From 2013 the material used in the majority of our anchors is now stainless steel AISI 316L, which offers a higher resistance to marine corrosion than the former AISI 304.
-To highlight this change each article is stamped with the relevant symbols.
Attention:
-There is also a “Marina” version of this anchor which is highly resistant to saline corrosion.
-To mark the difference between stainless steel AISI 316L and the marina version of the same material, all marine-suitable anchors have been marked with a fish symbol and the initials “INOX".
